About The History Authors

Meet the historians behind RGMII’s Guaranteed Minimum Income history series — Marston Crumpler and Sanders Marble — plus bios, credentials, and project notes.

The history sections were written by two of my close Thomas Dale High School (Chesterfield County, VA) friends who graduated with me in 1988 — and both went on to be historians! I was thrilled to have two friends uniquely qualified to help me better understand the full history of economic security in this country. I immediately reached out to them when we started this project, and together we researched and documented the history of direct cash transfer programs in the United States... and each of us was surprised by some of what we learned.
